In 1967 Albert “Ab” O. Nicholas founded an investment advisory firm bearing his name, Nicholas Company, Inc. The firm’s primary focus, as it remains today, was to identify companies offering characteristics that provide the best opportunity for superior returns with less risk over the long term. The firm’s success has been driven by investment results achieved through adherence to its disciplined investment philosophy, which incorporates attention to risk and a patient, long-term focus. We believe employing this investment process has been instrumental in providing higher risk-adjusted returns over market cycles.
As stewards of our client assets, we understand our crucial responsibility to invest their assets with prudence and in accordance with our investment philosophy. Nicholas has consistently expected and maintained a high level of integrity from our employees as they work on behalf of our clients. We understand that our clients and shareholders invest with Nicholas based on our long-term performance, which drives our daily focus on research and portfolio management. Nicholas has earned and held the trust of many individual and institutional clients over the past 50 years. David O. Nicholas, CEO and President, along with the staff at Nicholas Company remain steadfast in our commitment to the long-held core investment principles to help our clients achieve their future investment goals.
We offer a special recognition to Albert “Ab” O. Nicholas. Ab was a pioneer in the mutual fund industry, the founder of Nicholas Company and a longtime analyst and portfolio manager. Ab’s market insight, guidance and love for discovering great stocks will be missed, but his legacy will continue with the Nicholas investment philosophy.
As we celebrate our 50-year anniversary, we want to thank all of our current, past and future clients.

Mutual fund investing involves risk; principal loss is possible. Small- and medium-capitalization companies tend to have limited liquidity and greater price volatility than large-capitalization companies. Investments in debt securities typically decrease in value when interest rates rise. This risk is usually greater for longer-term debt securities. Investment by the Funds in lower-rated and non-rated securities presents a greater risk of loss to principal and interest than higher-rated securities.
Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Diversification does not assure a profit nor protect against loss in a declining market.
